Amara brings together a unique combination of Belly dance, Pilates, Yoga, and Ballet to create a fun and dynamic workout.  Students will strengthen and tone their muscles, increase their flexibility, and fortify their posture alignment.


* Please bring a yoga mat, towel, and water bottle.
* No shoes required.
* No experience necessary.

          Come get your body into a physique worthy of the beaches of Brazil!  Discover the Afro-Brazilian Workout in this exotic fitness class based on the Brazilian art form of Capoeira (Cap-oh-where-ah)  *Videos show games based upon Capoeira!
        In this hour-long class, one will explore a medley of low floor maneuvers, as well as back bends and inversions - all set to an eclectic blend of traditional drum rhythms and popular favorite songs.  All levels are welcome!
        Inversions (turning upside down, and/or upsetting the natural equilibrium of the body) is extremely helpful for aging bodies which don’t move quite as fluidly as they used to.  Please note that all movements will be taught with variations, so that each individual may move at his/her own pace and physical allowance.  The low body positioning of this class is also essential to improving strength and flexibility.  No external weights or equipment is used - solely the strength and weight of one’s own body.  You’ll find amazement in the physical strength, balance and control you can achieve!
       Please bring lightweight long pants, tucked-in shirt, athletic shoes and plenty of water.  A filtered water fountain is available for your water bottles at Galaxy.
       The following is a list of skills and maneuvers we will be building on over the course of the next few weeks.  The vocabulary is included to help the Portuguese to English language barrier.

        Blast away those extra pounds while toning your body and have fun in the process, dancing to familiar upbeat songs.  Learn many of the dance steps used by performance dancers on stage while you are led by choreographer Frances Mohler.

Guts and Butts - Jenn                                                                               SEE VIDEO
         Have you always wanted a tight and toned body?  Now’s your chance to see the results you want and deserve in this weekly class with professional trainer Jennifer Digges.
          Guts and Butts is a fitness class focused on training the core muscles (abdominals, obliques, back) and the gluteal muscles through an intense series of sculpting exercises.  All ages, body types and fitness levels are welcome to attend.  Each exercise will be adjusted to your own personal ability to achieve:
               Flatter and stronger abdominals in the shortest possible time
               Tight and toned overall look and feel to your body
               Loss of weight and excess body fat
               Tighter and lifted bum
               Physical strength you may not have known you had in you
 Challenge yourself and get ready to have fun while transforming your body!

Flex and Stretch - Frances Mohler

        Start each class the peaceful way with a Morning Flex.  Students will breathe deeply as they stretch and strengthen muscles while releasing tension and stress.   Classes will focus on perfect alignment and placement of the spine, shoulders, hips, knees and feet. Students practice Floor Barre technique, which builds strength and aids in injury prevention.  Progress with us as we Stretch to develop muscle control with light dance steps to today's popular songs, followed with a cool down.  No dance experience required!

KB Pilates - Instructor: Kaitlyn

        If you’re looking for a booty kick in a whole new way this is the perfect workout for you!  To keep the juices flowing, I choreograph my KB Pilates routine to upbeat jams mixed with a few relaxing tunes for stretching and cool down.  While core work is the focus of a KB Pilates class, it is an entire body workout.  There are segments throughout the routine designed to target specific portions of the body, like inner and outer thigh, arms, every muscle in the legs, and most importantly your tush!  We will be incorporating tools like the magic circles, resistance bands, and stability balls to intensify your workout.  Don’t be intimidated!  There are many modifications to help students of all levels.


         What you need- A yoga mat. You may want to bring two for more cushion.

         I suggest wearing breathable material and longer shorts or yoga style pants.

        There are yoga mats available for rent at Galaxy Studios. $1 per mat, per class, and

        there are yoga mats available for sale in the Galaxy retail store.

Shimy Shimy Go-Go Pop - Coco Lectric

Enjoy this low- to medium-impact cardio class based on favorite dance club moves from the ‘60s to today. You will enjoy bouncy moves from the classic shimmy-shakers of the 60s and 80s and the more modern techno and world dance styles that grace the stages in dance clubs today.

        It’s dance!  It’s fitness!  It’s Zumba®!!!  Don’t miss this fitness craze known as Zumba that’s sweeping the nation.  This 55-minute, non-stop class will leave you with a sweat, a smile and the ultimate “good feeling” in your soul!

What is Zumba®?

According to Zumba.com, Zumba® is an aerobic fitness program which “fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away.”  The goal of the program is to simply work out and enjoy doing it!  It’s not too often that exercise is truly andexhilarating experience, but with Zumba®, it truly is!

           Zumba® combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba® participants to dance away their worries. Again, basing on the principle that a workout should be "FUN AND EASY TO DO", participants of Zumba® have been found to successfully stick to the Zumba® Fitness program  and achieve long-term health benefits.  Zumba® is a “feel-happy” workout that is great for both the body and the mind. 

           The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of slow and fast rhythms that slyly tone and fit the physical figure.  Zumba® utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.  Overall, Zumba® is a fusion of Latin and International music - dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system!
